About this jobOur client is requesting a degreed I&C Engineer for engineering of digital-focused modifications in the Nuclear Plant Major Projects Design Engineering Group located in Southport, NC.
Selected candidate may be required to act as the Responsible Engineer for assigned projects while also functioning in a support capacity on other project teams.
Specifically this individual is being requested to support a turbine controls system upgrade project.
Responsibilities will include design package development, developing conceptual designs and specifications for bidding purposes, evaluating alternatives, developing design packages, technical support during implementation, setpoint development, coordination of design efforts with selected designer and conducting reviews.
Design products related to major digital controls system replacements, software evaluations, instrument component upgrades, and control circuits are expected to be developed in accordance with site design basis and cyber security requirements.
Individual will be required to qualify in the necessary duty areas to act independently as a Responsible Engineer for modifications within the organization, with past qualifications and product demonstration from other utilities as an acceptable alternative.

Duties
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or a current PE license is required.
International engineering degree or Master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering Degree.
7+ years engineering experience in the nuclear industry with experience in digital hardware / software modifications.
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks and subject to the site’s Fitness for Duty Program)
Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
State registration as a Professional Engineer preferred
Digital / I&C engineering experience
Working knowledge of digital upgrade specific licensing requirements and current 10CFR73.54 Cyber Security Requirements
Experience developing digital / software modification test plans
Experience with turbine control upgrade projects.
Current qualification at a nuclear utility as a Modification Engineer under an INPO Accredited Program and knowledge of Passport for design and work order development is highly desirable.
Individual will be required to obtain qualifications for a Modification Engineer prior to working independently.
Experience in the nuclear industry and design of digital and instrumentation & control modifications is required.
