Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for compliant and timely filing of our customers import shipments with Customs and Border Protection. Processes all assigned air and ocean brokerage files in a timely and accurate manner from initial pre-advice to clearance through invoicing and filing while adhering to the Harmonized Tariff of the U.S. and the U.S. Customs Regulations as well as company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles Brokerage Duties: 80% Administrative Duties: 20%
Brokerage Duties:
Classifies commercial invoices in a timely and accurate manner according to the HTSUS. Documentation breakdown and verification of content
Communicates with importers to correctly identify commodities in order to classify properly and conform to informed compliance.
Electronically and manually (as needed) transmits to U.S. Customs all information necessary to obtain clearance.
Communicate with Traffic Representatives and customers to obtain and complete clearance process. Timely communication with customer and operations as required ensuring proper shipment clearance and delivery.
Administrative Duties:
Invoice per Standard Operating Procedures for assigned customers, to assure timely and accurate invoicing of brokerage services and customs fees
Accurately posts vendor payables when invoicing files.
Updates Globe personnel with the latest clearance information.
Scans and forwards completed entry documentation to in house filing system for electronic storage.
Implements new CBP policy and regulations, and company policy as needed.
Creates and processes all customer statements.
Completes Post Entry Amendments.
Complies with External and internal audit request.
Participates in all required additional training such as CBP, and other government agency sponsored classes and events.
Attends International Freight Forwarders/Customs Brokers Association luncheons and meeting as required.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Maintains accurate inventory of payables for each entry file and posts accordingly.
Works with management to increase profitability for each file.
Avoids unnecessary and excessive storage or demurrage expenses for the customer and GES.
Customer Service: Will communicate with customers as needed to obtain information necessary to affect customs clearance and update customer as to the status of customs clearance.
Update customer to changes in CBP rules, regulations, classifications and duties as related to specific customer commodities.
Records: Will ensure that thorough and accurate documents are maintained within each entry file and properly scanned into Laser fiche.
Update internal departments to changes in CBP rules, regulations, classifications and duties as related to import shipment requirements.
